Q1: How many figures can I have?

A1: Technically there is no hard limit but we recommend limiting it to approximately six. It is author’s responsibility to ensure that the figures are legible when printed on a standard 300dpi B&W laser printer.

Q2: I used to use Acrobat to merge PowerPoint files and Word files when creating the PDF for submissions, how can I do that now with the IEEExplore system?

A2: You can create the text file in Word, the figures in PowerPoint, then create a zip file containing both files.  Then, upload the single zip file to the website.  You will receive an email indicating that your compressed file contains two files.   This email will also include a link to technical support.   Send an email to technical support requesting that they manually combine your two files and create a pdf.

Q3: Can I submit a file in PDF format?

A3: No, you must upload a Word file or a generic postscript file, please see Q2 for details.

Q4: How many pages can I use for a Circuit Submission?

A4: Only two pages. Any submissions with more pages will be automatically rejected.

Q5: Is there a minimum font size?

A5: The paper must be legible when printed on a 300dpi laser printer. If the printed paper is not readable it will be rejected. We suggest following the guidelines described in the Author’s Guide.

Q6: Can I submit changes to my paper after the submission deadline?

A6: No. All accepted papers are published as is when submitted. Please proof read your paper carefully before submitting it. We cannot update the paper to correct errors.

Q7: Can I submit a paper and not plan on attending the conference to present it?

Q7: No. By submitting a paper, the author is agreeing to travel to Hawaii in June to present the paper if accepted by the committee. Many people travel from across the globe to attend the VLSI Symposium and count on having the opportunity to see each paper presented. Please secure authorization by your organization to travel to the conference before submitting a paper.
